Popular choice for family life events

This former Silk Merchant’s mansion first opened its doors as a hotel more than 75 years ago, and has been welcoming guests from near and far ever since, making it one of Dundee’s most established and treasured hotels.

It’s fair to say that the Invercarse is held in great affection for many families and the people of Dundee and the surrounding area. Ask any local and they will most likely have attended an event in the hotel, or organised their own. It’s a popular choice for family life events such as christenings, graduations, special birthdays, weddings and funeral teas, as well as accommodation.

Much like the former mansion house, the hotel has always been loved and maintained by local residents. In 2022 ownership was transferred to the partnership of Sean Burke and Paul Brownlie. Both born and raised in the Dundee area, Sean started his career at Invercarse in 2003 and learned the workings of the business from the ground up. Paul brought almost two decades of experience in the hospitality business. Together they formed what is now Invercarse Hotel Ltd.

Putting their own values and experience into the hotel has been at the forefront of their business strategy since taking ownership. Sean and Paul have given the Invercarse a new lease of life, investing heavily into the fabric of the building as well as the aesthetics, through refurbishments and improvements both out front and behind the scenes.

Staff are key to any organisation and the Invercarse is no exception, a testament to the hotel is that key staff have been in position for 10 + years. Some more than 20!
